The judges were impressed by Bill's presentation as an outstanding example of ESD initiatives in a compact house that satisfies the clients specific brief. It provided an excellent use of a combination of recycled and new materials, passive solar design and renewable energy and waste, water recycling and minimisation.

This entry does everything one can imagine with energy efficiency and environmental sustainable design complete with high levels of insulation, significant amounts of recycled materials which are combined with passive solar design including varied depth verandahs for maximum winter sun penetration. The house incorporates a solar hot water system, a non grid-connected photovoltaic system, an environmentally friendly sewage disposal system, and rain water collection storage and reuse.
